| Dear Matt, |
Good Morning,
Our May meeting brings to the podium our own Ken Kruger. As you know, he is a practicing architect and structural engineer, as well as a home inspector. Ken is a wealth of knowledge which he will be sharing with us that evening.
In addition to his presentation on foundation cracks, Ken will lead the roundtable discussion on ethics which will provide everyone who participates with 1 CEU on ethics.
I hope that everyone will take the time to attend the meeting.
This is the time of year when we do our planning for our Annual Fall Conference that will take place on September 20 & 21 at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA. I welcome any thoughts you might have on educational topics and speakers to have at the conference.
We had a good representation of exhibitors last year but I would like to receive input on new vendors to talk to and I am looking for volunteers to help me in soliciting vendors to exhibit.
I look forward to seeing everyone on May 27th !
Lisa Alajajian-Giroux

| NH Legislation |
There are two bills that have been filed in the New Hampshire Legislature for the 2010 Legislative Session that pertain to home inspection. One of those bills HB1325 has been defeated.
The other bill is HB1471. This bill states that the governor's office of energy and planning, in consultation with the board of home inspectors, shall develop a document which shall be provided by home inspectors to their clients who are buyers and prospective buyers of single-family residential dwellings or condominium units. The document shall be provided at the time the home inspector provides the buyer or prospective buyer with the inspector's property inspection report.
The House passed this bill and it then went to the Senate's Energy, Environment and Economic Development Committee. They recommended that the bill be defeated. We have learned that the Senate last week voted to defeat this bill.
There is no further legislation in New Hampshire that the chapter is aware of that will involve our profession. |

| | RRP Workshop |
The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule represents the most significant and far-reaching Federal lead regulation since HUD published the Lead-Safe Housing Rule over 10 years ago. How to properly implement the various components of the rule has created many issues and concerns among public agencies, community groups, contractors and property owners.
Regional Workshops are being presented this summer that will bring clarity to the rule, untangle differences between EPA and HUD work protocols and clearance requirements, and help with the proper implement and enforcement of the rule.
The workshops will examine the current status and pending changes to the rule, state adoptions of the rule, enforcement and capacity building strategies, liability and insurance issues, and compliance with the rule's work requirements and protocols.
